Dr. Coral Armstrong (DVM/ Co-Owner) grew up in Monterey County and graduated from Scripps College in Claremont and the University of California at Davis School of Veterinary Medicine. She came to Los Coches to care for small and large animal patients in 1990, and purchased it in 2004. Her practice interests include treating geriatric pets and horses, cancer care, endocrinology, equine dentistry, equine silicosis, and anything related to Jack Russell Terriers! In her spare time, she enjoys ranch work and ranch horse competitions.
Dr. James Holtschlag (DVM) grew up in the area of Quincy, IL. He attended Western Illinois University where he started on the football team’s offensive line for four years and earned a degree in Agriculture Science.He received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine. There he served as class representative and was selected to speak at his graduation. During his time training in veterinary medicine, he found that he has a passion working with large and small animals. Jimmy has interests in surgery, theriogenology, herd health management and alternative medicine. He has an extra soft spot for hound dogs, and when he has free time, he enjoys watching football and being active outdoors with his dogs.
Carrie Askew, RVT,(Co-Owner) has been handling everything at Los Coches since 1990, becoming managing co-owner in 2004. Before that, she worked at the University of Georgia School of Veterinary Medicine in Athens, Georgia, Hagyard-Davison-McGee Equine Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky, and at small animal hospitals in Salinas. She is a graduate of the Hartnell College Veterinary Technician Program.
Erin A. (Practice Manager) has been officially employed here since 2006, however we joke that she was raised here as her mother Carrie has been at this office for almost 30 years. Erin is now our Practice Manager and is responsible for staff, scheduling, and day to day operations.
Magda L. (Reception/ Supervisor) has been instrumental in our day-to-day operations since 1994. She is always there to greet clients and patients, offer advice, and make visits go smoothly.
Gina M. (Lead Surgical Tech/ Supervisor) joined our hospital in 1998. She worked her way from Kennel Attendant to Head Inpatient/Surgery Nurse and knows all aspects of patient care. Her efficient, calm manner puts our patients at ease.
Brenda M.(Assistant Inpatient Tech) attended Central Coast College's Veterinary Assistant program. She began with our office in 2016 as a Kennel Assistant, she was quickly promoted more then once and is now our outpatient care coordinator. Brenda's willingness to learn and bright attitude makes her a great asset to our team.
Carmen V. (Outpatient Tech) is a Graduate of Central Coast Colleges Veterinary Technician Program. She began here as a Kennel Assistant after her internship and her skills quickly shined through and she is now a Technician.
Stephanie L. (Outpatient Tech/ Receptionist) is a Graduate of a Veterinary Tech. School back East. Stephanie grew up in our area as a young child and wished to return. After hearing from her we felt she was a great fit for our team, after moving back out here it was apparent her skills and personality were just what we needed and she has been a great asset.
Cristina M. (Kennel Assistant) Cristina works in our office on a part time bases as a Kennel Assistant while also enrolled in school full time. Cristina's love of animals makes her a great asset to our team.
Estefani R. (Kennel Assistant) is currently attending Central Coast Colleges Veterinary Technician Program. She is currently working part time caring for the animals and is well on her way to her future career as an RVT, a journey which we hope to be a part of in the future.
Karla C. (Kennel Assistant) completed Central Coast Colleges Veterinary Assisting Program and currently works with our office part time caring for animals. Karlas previous experience has made her a pro at what she does and we are lucky to have her.
As you can see, we at Los Coches are bonded together and to our community in our commitment to serve our patients and their people. We especially value the special relationship we have with our clients who have become like family to us.
